Doorbell Suspicion

My smart doorbell is extremely cautious. Yesterday it alerted me that someone familiar was at the door, so I rushed home; when I arrived, it asked me to prove I lived there. Apparently the only person it trusts with my house is a stranger carrying my groceries.
